Check out recurring programs and special events from the National Parks Service.

Did you know your kids can learn to kayak right across State Road at Riis Landing?  This is one of dozens of family-friendly program in the National Park that is right in our backyard.  Others include:

Junior Rangers in a Changing Climate, Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge - Saturday, March 18 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Junior Rangers and their families are invited to join us in a monthly program series about weather change. Each month we will focus on different topics concerning climate change, how it affects our planet and what we can do to help! March’s topic is Weather & Climate.

Stargazing Floyd Bennett Field, Community Gardens - Friday, March 31, April 14 and May 12, 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Come gaze at the wonders of the night sky over Floyd Bennett Field with the Amateur Astronomers Association. Weather permitting - cancelled if overcast.

A Springtime Hike at Breezy Point Fort Tilden, Bldg 1 (and carpool to Breezy Point) - Sunday, April 23 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Visit the little-known western tip of the Rockaway Peninsula with naturalist Mickey Maxwell Cohen. Discover seashells and other stranded critters, dune foliage, shore birds, and a surprising variety of rocks and minerals used in the construction of the Breezy Point jetty.
